This was a game that the students love to play. Two teams would compete to correctly spell in English the vocabulary words we had learned that week. In this picture we were doing the parts of the body.

Penda is depicted here with the winning team of the vocabulary competition.

Here the Starling students are working on thank you posters for their American sponsor families.

On the last weekend before I left, the Starling students came to my compound to finish their Sponsor Packets. These were packets of information about each student so that their sponsor families could learn about their students. The packets contained a letter to the sponsor, a story and a "contract" that promised they would always try their best at school.

I am teaching Penda and other Starling students how to dance the Cotton Eye Joe.

Here I am trying to round up the students for a photo.

The class poses with their thank you posters to the generous people who donated school supplies that I brought with me.

I was gifted a bushel of potatoes by the mother of one of my Starling students. I taught some of the Starling students how to make french fries with the gift potatoes. They loved them!

We improvised and replaced chairs with cinder blocks! The students loved playing "musical cinder blocks."
